Children tend to act according to how they think their parents perceive them.  

If a parent generally has positive beliefs about a child, the child will act more positively and vice-versa. Research shows that your child will feel more loved and exhibit positive behaviors if their parent believes they work hard, make good decisions, are kind, etc.
